Caustic soda
Flakes · pearls · 50 % lye
Sodium hydroxide in solid and liquid trade form, a base chemical used in almost every industry.
Flakes are formed on cooled rollers and give irregular scales. Pearls are prilled and flow more evenly. The difference lies in handling, the quality is the same. Both are 98 to 99 % pure. Lye from electrolysis comes at around 30 to 35 % and is evaporated to the usual trade concentration of 50 %. Transport distance and dosing equipment decide between solid and liquid.
